HydroSal™
A unique controlled release system consisting of submicron spheres that are loaded with functional actives and other ingredients. HydroSal™ is a versatile technology that can be incorporated in either water (HydroSal™ 1) or hydro-alcoholic (HydroSal™ 2) environments and compatible systems such as gels, creams, lotions, and sprays. The technology permits encapsulation of various functional ingredients at rather high pay loads (typically 30-50% of the total dry weight).
The nanospheres of HydroSal™ are coated and infused within a polymeric layer. The layer's properties and its interaction with both the encapsulated actives and the surrounding environment is the major factor in HydroSal™ controlled release. The polymetric film can be totally dissolved to allow for a burst release and enhanced depletion of the entrapped active or can be broken down over time providing a slower, but longer-lasting release.
The HydroSal™ technology platform provides:
- Highly compatible water or alcohol based delivery system
- Sustained release of functional ingredients
- Controlled moisture trigger release system - release upon need in response to body moisture or upon rewetting the target surface
- Prolonged release to the target site
- Capable to perform a burst-like and rapid depletion release
- Small in particle size - ideal for spray applications
