MS ME is specifically designed to enhance menthol’s stability and performance; keeping it fresh and potent for the ultimate refreshing consumer experience.
The menthol is encapsulated in fine solid microspheres that are ready for processing. It enables the production of finished products with less menthol vapor during processing (which can be toxic at high concentration). The encapsulation protects the menthol which allows it to be processed using methods such as extrusion and compression molding (bar soaps, sticks, lip balms, etc.) and processes that require elevated temperatures, while not losing menthol during the production process
MS ME is a double encapsulation delivery system. The core is fused with menthol that is first encased in submicron spheres, then encapsulated again within an outer microsphere shell. The outer layer protects the menthol from premature evaporation and release. As the shell is broken down by water or the friction of application, sub-micron spheres slowly release menthol on the skin.
How the Tehnology Helps You
MS ME is used to replace the critical step of solubilizing menthol (i.e. in ethanol) and spray it over powders, crystals or other surfaces. Therefore, reducing the odor and material loss which occurs during the process, and retaining more of the Menthol in the package for longer shelf life, benefits producers of products such as: body powder and bath salt. The production turns ease, safe and cost effective with MS ME. Products utilizing encapsulated Menthol offer a longer shelf life, as long as the product maintained in dry environment. This is because only water can trigger the release of the potent menthol from the encapsulation.

Longlasting Cooling Sensation
The cooling sensation from MS ME was compared to free menthol from a body powder application. MS ME shows significant and consistently higher performance in terms of extending the cooling sensation of menthol over time.

Water Triggered Release
The effect of water, as a trigger to release menthol was evaluated by measuring odor intensity from an anhydrous stick as a model system. The odor intensity was quantified using a scale of 0-5, with 5 being the most intense odor.
Odor intensity from a deodorant stick containing 2% Menthol from either MS ME or free. The stick with MS ME didn’t omit any odor in the dry form. While the stick containing free menthol exhibits similar odor intensity in both dry and wet conditions. However, the application on skin, from the deodorant stick containing MS ME, resulted in a significantly higher menthol odor burst after activated with water.

Enhanced Heat Stability
